Watering Seeds of Happiness

In the Name of Allah,The Most Merciful and Most Compassionate

Watering Seeds of Happiness - Sheikh Yahya Ibrahim

How to end Happiness

1. Confusing success with happiness

Success is metric - measurable and linear
Happiness is non-metric and expansive

2. Trying to please everyone before we focus on our self

You can not complete faith until you love for others, what you love for yourself.

3. Blaming others for our circumstances

We have to own our life. Blaming others is to give away our power.

"Whoever work righteousness benefits his own soul ; whoever works evil, it is against his own soul; nor is your Lord ever unjust (in the least) to His servants." Fussilat 41:46

4. Trying to control everything

Qadr - fate

- What happens to us
- What happens within us
- How we react to the above

5. Comparing ourselves with others - Hasad

"Look at those below you (less fortunate than you), and don't look at those above you, for this is better" (HR Muslim)

6. Self limiting belief

Suhaib reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said:
Strange(Wondrous) are the ways of a believer for there is good in every affair of his and this is not the case with anyone else except in the case of a believer for if he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (God), thus there is a good for him in it, and if he gets into trouble and shows resignation (and endures it patiently), there is a good for him in it.

7. Letting past successes or failures haunting us

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
A strong believer is better and is more lovable to Allah than a weak believer, and there is good in everyone, (but) cherish that which gives you benefit (in the Hereafter) and seek help from Allah and do not lose heart, and if anything (in the form of trouble) comes to you, don't say: If I had not done that, it would not have happened so and so, but say: Allah did that what He had ordained to do and your" if" opens the (gate) for the Satan.

8. A philosophy of excess

Desire for more

Anas bin Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “If the son of Adam had a valley full of gold, he would want to have two valleys. Nothing fills his mouth except dust, and Allah will forgive whoever repents to him.”

9. Do good of others regardless their treatment

Do not be people without minds of your own, saying that if others treat you well - you will treat them well, and that if they do wrong - you will do wrong. Instead, accustom yourselves to do good if people do good and not to do wrong if they do evil." [Al-Tirmidhi]

I'm amazed on how beautiful Sheikh Yahya delivered his speech.

There was once I questioned myself, "Why did Allah forgive Prophet Adam, when he did a mistake, meanwhile, still punish Iblis laknatullah whom also, did only one mistake - of not wanting to prostrate towards Prophet Adam?". And the answer is just so obvious - because Iblis was so arrogant - believing that he was created from fire and he's all better than Prophet Adam, whom was created from mud. There's another reason why he was not forgiven. He blamed Allah. It is recorded in Surah Al-A'raf:

He said: "Because you has thrown me out of the way, lo! I will lie in wait for them on your straight way" Al-A'raf  7 : 16

It is as if, Iblis said to Allah, "You allow me to be misled/misguided. It's your fault God"

And he never repented.

On the other hand, when Prophet Adam and Hawa commited a sin of eating the fruit from the forbidden tree, they repented - they didn't blame the Iblis! (Even though it was clearly that they could just said that Iblis whispered to them to do that.) Instead, Prophet Adam and Hawa asked for Allah's forgiveness -

They said: "Our Lord! We have wronged our own souls: If thou forgive us not and bestow not upon us Thy Mercy, we shall certainly be lost." Al-Araf 7 :23

That's why Prophet Adam and Hawa were forgiven. Because they confessed their wrongdoing, and repented, but Iblis did not.

Subhanallah. I was left speechless at the end of the video.

La hawla wala quwwata illa billah.
